Dear Motorist,

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the passage of Senate Bill 1778 and House Bill 5011 during the 2009 Legislative session that will take effect on September 1, 2009.

The bill raises the state fees significantly for driver licenses and the registration and titling of all automobiles, boats and mobile homes. Many of the transaction fees have more than doubled in cost.

My staff and I understand these are difficult economic times for any taxpayer to reach deeper into their wallets as we have also felt the harsh effects.

The revenues generated from these increases will be remitted back to the state. Our office will not receive any portion of the registration fees.  None of these increased fees will stay in Hillsborough County to fund local services.
