Important: You cannot renew online if your renewal notice contains messages about insurance, customer stops, or registration stops. Check for stops or holds before proceeding.

For your convenience, we have partnered with the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) and the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) to allow you to clear toll violations when renewing your registration online.

Payment methods:

• Credit/debit card – subject to a convenience fee
• eCheck – no convenience fee

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector does not receive any part of the convenience fee.

 License plate replacement:

• You may replace your license plate when renewing online. If you have a personalized plate and wish to change to a different specialty plate, you must order it in person or by mail. It cannot be completed online.

Use a Vehicle Registration Self-Service Kiosk

Important: You may only use the kiosk if your registration has no stops or holds. Check for stops or holds before proceeding.

Skip the wait and renew your vehicle registration at a self-service kiosk – as easy to use as an ATM, with prompts available in English and Spanish.

How it works:

• Enter your license plate number and date of birth, or your PIN from your registration renewal notice.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to review and pay for your renewal.
• The kiosk will print your new registration and decal on the spot.

Drop Box:  Drop boxes are available at most of our branches as an added convenience. You may drop your mobile home registration payment at anytime. Please be sure not to deposit cash.

Please note that leased vehicle renewal prices differ from privately owned vehicles are are based on the weight of the vehicle.
